A fiery accident leaves an unrecognizable corpse. A body is found drifting in Lake Ontario after being crushed by a ferry. What’s the connection? They are lifelong friends. Jonathan Birnam knew them, back in the day. He is not a brutal man. But he is willing to do whatever it takes to find the truth. And if that means doing things that others won’t; if that makes him brutal; then so be it.

After 10 years running from his past, Jonathan returns to Toronto to uncover the truth. And, maybe find the man he used to be. The police want him to leave it alone. The woman who left him all those years ago wants to find out what should have been. Employing his police skills from the past, annoying the Detective Sergeant assigned but turning up intelligence no else sees, Jonathan finds himself in the cross-hairs.

A mysterious, beautiful Hungarian woman helps Jonathan to understand the real situation for a group of women held hostage by a powerful and dangerous family. All leading to a truth he would never have suspected and, ultimately, to the knowledge there are some people he’s never really known.

The days of running away are over. Birnam has come home. Home to find the truth of himself and the truth of the past. Where that truth leads will either put him away or them.

Likely them.
